Stop right there.

2024 is almost in the books—at least for anyone not working retail—and my inbox is overflowing with “New Year, New You” advice and clickbait tips for crushing 2025. Spare me.

Here’s the only advice you need: Build good habits. Drop bad ones. Rinse. Repeat.

It’s easy to coast through December, but easy doesn’t get you anywhere. The people who win aren’t waiting for January 1st to “start fresh.” They’re stacking small wins right now.

Next week is Christmas, and I’m fully aware nobody’s going to read The Deputy if I publish the 75th edition on Thursday, 12/26/24 (the day after Christmas). So I’ve got you for a few minutes right now, and I’m going to make it count.

Here’s Your December Playbook

For the rest of the year, carve out a couple of moments each day to reflect, adjust, and—here’s the key—take action. No, not “plan for 2025” action. I’m talking about doing something that moves you forward today. Action builds momentum, and momentum beats motivation every time.

If you’re job hunting, check out the hot jobs listed below. If you’re looking for great coffee (or want to send someone a thoughtful gift), Sumato Coffee’s got you covered. No fluff, just action.

Real Talk on 2025 Goals

Like you, I’m thinking about next year. I see the LinkedIn posts, the productivity hacks, the “make 2025 your best year yet!” emails—and honestly? It creates a bit of anxiety. It’s a lot of noise.

The best strategy I’ve found?

Tune it out. Focus on being a better adult. Do your work.
