The World Excel Championship in Las Vegas is becoming a thing…
Did you catch wind of the World Excel Championship in Las Vegas the other day? If pivot tables get your heart racing, you could be gunning for a $15K prize.
Big props to Andrew "The Annihilator" Ngai, the spreadsheet wizard bagging his third title and a sweet wrestling championship belt. Bill Gates should be proud…
The bigger news is that Microsoft Excel is officially an esport. In this game, eight players are given a big ream of data, plus a set of instructions. Players then need to create formulas and subsets to process the data, working against the clock to solve stages of the case and earn points. Every 7.5 minutes the lowest score is eliminated.
But watch out, Andrew – an AI bot's got its digital eyes on that throne.
Microsoft presents you with the latest E-Sport competition.
No, it's not Halo or Forza Motorsport in Xbox.
Congratulations to actuary Andrew Ngai for winning the Microsoft Excel World Championship in Las Vegas!
